perfect loop

I have an mpc 2000xl and for some reason i cannot get the perfect loop when i sample. it always sounds some what off. Does any one have any suggestions or techniques they can share? Especially when i chop it into zones. It seems that there is a piece missing and it never feels or sounds right. Please help..

You gotta make sure your truncating your loop right first of all because if that's not right then there is no point in going further. If you chop it into zones I use either Note Off or Mono depending how I want to play the sample.

what do you mean by truncating? I apologize if that was a stupid question.

Truncating is making sure your start and end points are set. Meaning if you chopping a 4 Bar loop then make sure it's exactly 16 beats.

just zoom in and make sure that your start and stop points are where they should be. use your ears

So say you have it looped fine in trim, i take it when your putting it into a sequence its off right?

if so, it might be cause your sample is, say 120bpm but u want the sequence at 88. if u just put it to 88 bpm the sample is going to cut off cause the length of a bar at 120bpm is different than 80bpm.

you may nneed to use timestretch to slow it down to whatever tempo your going for. once the sequence bpm, and sample bpm are good to go and its not cutting off, then when u chop it, it will match up.

You don't need to timestretch. You jsut manually tune the sample down to the tempo it needs to be.
