I would like to see Roger Linn work on upgrading the 3000 with more memory, and more than one usable program at a time, at least. It would be king over the MPC 4000.

You can't even spell Roger's surname correctly !!!

"Linn" not "Lynn".

1: Upgrading the MPC3000 with more memory other than the 32 megabyte it is already capable of addressing would result in a not so easily installable upgrade. ( would require cutting of tracks, soldering of additional components or fitting of extra circuit boards ...... IE: Not an end user installable upgrade )

2: Software upgrades for the MPC3000 are being performed already by www.mansell-labs.com ...... apart from where the upgrades are at already there are many more features/changes in development.

Rohan.

Why would anyone need more than 32MB on a sampler like the 3000? My beats usually takes up 2MB...

The new Mansell Labs OS has a function that makes your sample use only half the space with a minor loss of high freq's. Then you have the same as you would have with 64MB installed.

The ONLY thing the 3000 needs is better (and cheaper) safer saving options (ZIP disks and floppy disks are not safe, card readers are rare and expencive).

EAND the Dilla button of course...

Would that function be the compression feature??

Yes. And it is very dope and works very well. Especially with everything that don't need that really hi freq's. If you do it twice and blast the resonance to about 8 on 100 you'll get a great lo-fi sound to your samples. But of course don't do it on all elements of your beat as it may be a bit dramatic. I have much fun with the compression.

excellent explanation. I've never heard the compression feature described with such gusto..

MPC60 has it too. I just started using my 60 after not using it for months and I'm loving it. I think I'll have to try the compress again but I remember it being overkill since its already 12bit.

I've got over 20 programs loaded up in my 4000 and can use all of them on any given tracks in one sequence. I would like to do the same on my 3000.

You are so greedy, but i understand...

The 60 compression is fine but you can only pitch samples upwards later on with the 16 pad function. I use it a lot and it allows me to arrange whole tracks within the 60. I have the memory upgrade but try to keep everything on one floppy, so making the best out of 13 seconds is kinda good challenge.

I'm disappointed that the 4000 does not have the swing of the 3000. But, if I do a sequence on the 3000 with that certain amount of swing, then save it and load into the 4000, it will keep that swing. The 4000 does something else.

I wonder if there are differences like that between all the 'newer' models, like xl, 4000, 1000, 500 even.

What's disappointing is that you have all that gear and don't know how to make proper use of it.
If your 4k doesn't swing like your 3k is because you have it set that way, nothing more.
The 4k and MV have to use setting common to the older or less capable MPC to get the same swing.
You have them side by side and can't figure that out.

It is what it is! "Hater", does not look good on you!!! Do you even own a 3000 or 4000?

More childish nonsense.
You have set a new record for the most idiot, redundant post in a 24 hour period.
I own and have owned every MPC except the 1k/500, plus many other pieces of gear.
So the fact that mommy and daddy brought you some gear for Christmas and you are eager to post pictures of it ( or either someone let you take pictures of their gear) doesn't impress me or mean sh*t to me.
Also doesn't change the fact that you don't understand how to use a 4k and get the 3k sequencer aspect.

As they use to say on the old GI Joe cartoon knowing is half the battle, not knowing just makes you an *ss.

Learn how to use the gear or even own it before you talk more dumb stuff you heard on the internet.
