just bought a 2kxl from ebay and it will not turn on...

hey i'm really at a loss about what to do with this. I just got my mpc 2000xl in the mail (bought it from ebay) and I can not get it to turn on. The cable is plugged in nice and snug in the back and the on off switch is fine but nothing happens. The display won't turn on it literally won't work. I tried contacting the guy and he said it was working fine in his studio when he shipped it... does anyone have any suggestions, maybe its a loose connection inside?

Do you see the lights come on or any activity when you plug it in and turn it on?

And how's the feedback on the seller you bought from? I would definitely file a claim through PayPal.

open it up and check the connections from the power cable to the power circuit board (Brown and white wire). Also check the fuse.

If that doesn't work and you want to part out the MPC, let me know. I'm looking for parts.

try a different power cable.

juke what parts do you need

may sound stupid but make sure its plugged into a socket that doesnt require u to turn on a light switch or something. try a different outlet. might not even be the mpc (wishful thinkin on your behalf)

if you need one that works mine is for sale check the hardware for sale forum. pez

It could be a very simple problem:

Change the fuse in the power lead (plug) if that doesnt work
but another power lead.

Hey dude can you tell us the name of the seller? I am about to purchase one off of ebay and wanna avoid this

man dont panic...i gotta 2000xl from ebay ..same sorta shit happened to me, got my dad to have a look at the fuse & b4 u know it fully workin mpc2000xl...my dad suprises me time & time again..as i didnt have a clue !

Same thing happened to me but my $h*t would cut off intermittently. Had to open it up and do some re-soldering by the power connection. No problem since.

hey everyone thanks for the replies... so we opened it up and found out the guy who sold it had cleaned out the inside and unplugged a wire and plugged it back in the wrong spot. i'm just thankful it works now!
