Hum coming from turntable?

I'm running my turntable thru a mixer and into the mpc 2500 , I'm getting a real ugly hum thats quite noticeable in the samples, I tried cutting the mixer out of the loop ot see where the prob is and I've narrowed it down to the table itself , even with the needle off the record its got an ugly hum , its really pissing me off , I'm new to turn tables so any help is appreciated

Is the turntable ground connected to the mixer ground screw? Also, check and clean your needles to make sure the contacts are nice and strong with no interruption.

sorry boss how do I connect table ground to mixer ground? I can see the screws do I need a groundwire? , and how do I clean the needle? , thanks for the good advice

Some turntables dont have ground wires. First, what kind of table is it? Find out if yours is supposed to have a ground wire and if its supposed to but doesnt, you need to look into getting one connected.

Check the contacts to see if oxidation exists. Some Caig contact cleaner should do the trick if it does.

its a stanton str8-30, its got a ground screw so I'm assuming it needs a groundwire? , and whats caig?

Episode's saying clean your contacts with a de-oxidizing agent. Contacts meaning: Rca's, ground wire connections, 1/4" or anything carrying a signal that contains contact points made of metal. Metals react with air and become oxidized making them poor conductors (prolonged oxidation creates rust). Caig is a product that one can use to reduce the oxidized metal and create a cleaner (pun intended) signal. Now, I could be wrong, its been a minute, but I dont think that stanton has ever used a ground wire. My older ones didn't have ground wires and some nu marks dont either. Sometimes, needles come with small brushes specifically for the purpose of cleaning. You just delicately brushing away lint and dirt. But id be hard pressed to believe a dirty needle is the culprit. When you move the tone arm do you hear static or an increase in frequency hum? Also, you mentioned it having a ground screw on it, if so, that might be the obvious solution. Another thing, its a long shot but do you have everything plugged into the same power strip?

nah I got table and mixer running off a double plug , and MPC/mixer/PC running off a different plug, I did a search on the statnton str8-30 and apparently it does use a ground wire... what do u mean the ground screw is obvious? , does that mean I definitely need to hook up a groundwire? and if so where do I get them?

It def needs a ground wire. It comes built in to the TT.

I cant find the wire? , I see the screw , the dude I bought it off must have the wire?

is there a specific wire? can I go down to the local electronic store and ask for one? will they know what I mean?

Is the screw on the TT or Mixer?

A typical turntable ground wire is pretty thin.

theres a screw on both the TT and Mixer , I've narrowed the hum down to the table itself, seems I dont need to do anything with the mixer I thort I explained that earlier , I think I'm just gonna have to track down a TT ground wire

Fine, now get any frigging type of wire and connect it to the two, and you're done!
