scsi drive 2000classic

Anyone know where i can buy one and are they easy to install?

Internal, external, ZIP, harddrive, CD-ROM, card reader?

just the part that goes in the back for an external ZIP/jazz drive, or a new fuse for one ?

ebay... but make sure the model you get has the termination and scsi ID switches on the back of the unit. the iomega 100mb and 250mb external zip drives are probably the most common to use with an MPC.

sorry, i mean the part in the back of the mpc. Ive got one there but needs a new fuse or just a new scsi part if you know what i mean?

Oh, you mean the SCSI connector on your MPC? What makes you think you need a new one?

well, everytime i connect a zip, it fails to load anything up.
This is cause ages ago, my frien bought a zip drive for his 2000,
plugged it in and found it didn't work, then plugged it in mine and same happened, this is because it was not the right leed, i then tried with my scsi lead and it wouldn't read still, so im sure its prob the fuse?

Wait, wait....so you tried the ZIP drive on his 2000, then on yours, then with a new lead (cable?) with no luck, and now you think it's the SCSI port?

Does the MPC recognize it at all? Because if it does, it's most probably not the port.

no, it looks through the numbers that come up when you turn it on if you know? Then it just says error i think. Ill try later and post exactley what it says

Ok....mind you, it will probably say error on all the SCSI IDs except the one your drive is set to, so try all of them.

it doesnt detect any drives, just says error. My mate says he reckons its the scsi thing in the back of the mpc OR the fuse in it. Any suggestions?
Also, its freezing up a lot and playing random samples i threw away ages ago..is this the ram playing up or do u think it could be more serious?

Its irritating cause if i want it serviced i have to pay through the nose!
And thats sh(t if theres something i cud have fixed myself

I would try to confirm that it's really not the drive itself. I don't know if you can exchange the SCSI fuse on the 2000XL at all though.

Samples you threw away ages ago? Sounds like it has to load them from somewhere first. Do you have the flash memory installed? Try pulling that out. Try exchanging or removing the RAM. The usual stuff...
