Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

Hey guys, Im just wondering if it is possible to send individual samples out of an MPC 500 track for processing with out board gear. Can I send, say, the kick drum out to a compressor, and then re-sample the compressed kick? And high hats out for reverb? I know with the 1000 you can assign individual tracks out, I'm just wondering if its possible with the 500.

Nope no Individual outputs on the 500. Just the headphone output and the main L & R outputs. I don't think what you're asking is going to be possible. You can always record each element to a track in a DAW and then apply the effects.

No indivs out per se, but if you pan hard left and right, that gives you 2 indivs. Plus if you are synced with your daw or whatever you can just mute parts and then record individually. Works for me!

On a similar theme, is it possible to mute tracks in song mode, or even when recording the master out as a wav file? I know (I think I am right here) that you can't record your track mutes as midi data, which I think is a bit of a major oversight...

Yeah you're right about not being able to record the track mutes but not sure about muting tracks in song mode , but when recording the master output I'm pretty sure you can mute tracks

Is anyone else able to help with track mutes when recording the master out? When I am recording the master out my track mute button doesn't bring up the usual screen. :?
