Cant manage to get aka sys usb connection working

Ive tried to install the drivers of aka sys, and usb, but it just wont work.
What did i do wrong???? ive read the manual but somehow it wont work.

Where do i place the map with the aksys inf and sys ?
What the hell did i do wrong??

First have a look in control panel (In xP) to see if the usb device is showing. If it is covered by a yellow asterisk then that means the usb driver has not been loaded properly. Keep the 4k plugged in and right click on the yellow asterisk and select uninstall this device (or words to that effect).

Now unplug the usb cable and goto where you have put the usb driver that you downloaded from the akai site. Right click on the driver file and choose install. The computer will install the driver.

Now plug the 4k back in and see what she does?. If the screen about trusted drivers comes up you are in business just click yes yes blah blah and now in device manager you will see the 4k without asterisk.

Now load up ak.sys and you can experience the great world of dragging and dropping home brew pc samples straight onto your 4k.

i got it, somehow winxp didnt got the usb connection from the last installation uninstalled.

i also tried right clicking the driver file, but there is no install option because xp doesn't recognize the file in the first place. do you know what i mean? if i double click the file xp asks me which program i want to open it with.

Whats going on???

Im just curious as to what the akaisys software does?? does it just make it so you can file swap with a PC or does it also do other realtime comunication???
