Do any professional producers use the 500 or 1000?

I know pretty much every professional hip hop producer has used at some point in their career an MPC....I can name them but the list would be too long....but has anyone known of anyone professional using an mpc 1000 or 500? Or are those basically built for amateurs who will never go anywhere? I'm not trying to be disrespectful, but I am a serious minded producer/music student that has used software based production for years, and now I am switching over to hardware. I don't want to buy something that is considered a toy, I want to be taken seriously as a producer.

Of course u will find MPC´s in professional studios ! Why should a MPC be a toy, or not a serious Gear for professionals, because of it´s 16 Bit 44.1 khz sampling engine ?!

The Mpc has good A/D Converters and it does not sound badder then my pro-audio Interface, but the sound is really secondary.

The main good reasons are the workflow of a mpc, and it´s superb tight sequencer, i know a lot of people with professional Pro-Tools Studios, which bought a Mpc, cuz a Mpc is whatever u make everytime a good Investion for a studio. If u want real professional sound u need high end racks (eq´s,preamps,compressors) if u really want to make commercial hits, but the mpc is the base, where u sequence, and arrange your music. I do not need high end equipment i use good plugins, and analog synthesizers.

The hip hop and r´n´b Producers still use the MPC for their Hits.

I own a Mpc 500, and i am so glad that i bought it, cut it offers me a lot ways to produce, and be creative. It forces u to make music, and it more fun to sit infront of monitor and working with mouse.

But one thing is true, u never know how good a mpc is if u never owned one.

Let me rephrase what I was asking.....do professionals use the mpc 500 or 1000? I know dozens of producers who use the mpc2000xl and 4000, people like Pete Rock, Dr. Dre, Kanye West, Swizz Beats, etc.
I am a newb when it comes to hardware based production studios, thats why I want to know.

Not that I ever heard. I think the main reason is because most the "professional" producers have been producing music for quite a few years. A lot of cats found a machine that suits them long before the 500 and 1000 were around.
I dont know about the 500, but the 1000 def can do a lot more than some of the machines the pros use.

unless your setting up a commercial studio then you shouldnt give a shit if anyone thinks your gear is good. Just get your skills up. I have seen too many cats spend thousands on gear and come up with doodoo. I have been blown away by what was done on a couple hundered dollar roland SP.

Large Pro uses the 1000

Considering professionals uses the mpc 2000XL, why non of them should use the new mpc´s ? They are not inferior, compared to the older ones. They offer contemporary USB connectivity. I know a lot of serious professionals which uses the 1000 or the 500.

It really doesn't matter how many "pros" use it. Worry about that when they're paying for it.

The Numark MPC are loaded with cheap and inferior OTS converters when compared to the converters in the earlier MPC models and certainly. This is just one of the ways Numark cut cost to move the MPC into a much larger "Prosumer/Hobbiest". The compromises are easily heard when detailed material is sent through the new MPCs or when the better sound libraries are used. The new MPCs would never be my choice but I certainly respect right of others to buy what works for them.

I remember a lot of upcoming and also professional producers including the mpc1000 in their kits in scratch magazine articles

I 've seen him use the Fantom with 2000XL but that's it. Is there a pic, article or video that backs the rumor. As far as I can tell that's base on a story about what someone claimed to have seen him buy. I'm not saying does or doesn't but that story has never been substantiated to my knowledge.

He put's it out there in the video that he uses anything he can get his hands on.

Mannie only uses the 2000XL.

dont get a toy then. get a 3000 or 60.
