Most of you here know that this is fishing season so to speak (and we're the catch). Do you have your demo's ready? Label exec's plan on reeling in some acts this year. What are some pointers you vets might wanna offer a first timer?

im a "first timer" as well but ive done a little research. im no expert, but from what ive read and heard you want a 3 of ur best tracks, maybe four or five, but the point is make it short and sweet. a&rs and execs dont have time to skim thru 20 tracks so hit em fast and hit em hard. obviously make sure ur shit is copywritten, and take pride in ur packaging. no doubt its skills (and conections) that pay the bills, but an impressive press kit (also dont forget online press kit) could be the difference between getting an honest listen and gettin ur demo tossed into a pile of cheap walgeens cds full of 'hot fiya.' and last, if its really that serious and u have enough faith in ur music, u might wanna consider breakin bread on an agent. many will tell you to build a buzz and wait for the agents to come knockin, and they're probably right, i just thought id throw out as many ideas as i could. i hope it all goes well for you and if you do end up goin platinum, send a bottle of bubbly and a video ho to my table

Hahaha, thanks guys, yea I'll send one if I don't get too consumed with writing. But by a stroke of faith, the agent came to me (via my sister & her friend). And what he mentioned was that they have quite a few acts already signed to major lables. My project is to write some material catered more towards the contemporary adult audience, and that's right up my alley. I have a few vocalist I need to check out or at least be on the ready, so this hopefully will advance to some bigger and better things.
