Laptop HD inside my 2000xl?

is there a certain website that deals with this converter?

i got a couple of sites that i found but the one i chose was addonics.works good.but you can find the same one on ebay cheaper.

I figured out what the problem was with my setup. The SCSI cable was bent in an awkward position and apparently the 2kxl didn't like the cable routing. I flattened the cable and rerouted it. Works like a charm. Thanks for your help bro. Peace.

dont forget, most of the scsi items are not even consumer products so chances you'll find microtech etc at your local pc farmer are slim (hence a pcd47 cost about $400 new).

The ide can be used for a HD, but i personaly prefer solid state because the one cool thing about having a cardreader in the first place is to get rid of noise in your studio, so i follow that. Downside is that the older format are larger but also cheaper to aquire, but the newer ones are as small as an ide male socket with the ram modules directly on top (as pic posted earlier). The lastest and largest format to date is 856Gb (SSD) of which i have not found a pricetag but is obviously to much for sample storage (A-Z x 1GB, 26Gb = 30Gb < wasted).

somewhat cheaper but a bit bigger, an ide flash modules from Transcend with dimensions 59mm x 27,3mm x 7,3mm a bit bigger and could possibly be in the way of the scsi socket/connections but could easily be solved by adding a ide cable to a clear space inside the mpc. These are cheaper but in general, the highest storage found is 40 pin 8Gb (a 151 euro)

maybe im missing something here, but why is everyone so gung ho about having a huge 20 gig drive in their mpc? i mean thats not big in modern terms, but its big for an mpc. do you really need more than a 1 gig card? i have a ton of shit on mine and i still have ample space left. why not just backup your shit to your computer and erase the card when it gets near full? just seems like alot of unnecessary work to add space that you will never fill up?

There are some benefits Josh to having the HD. Some guys like to put there whole drum library onto the HD and some guys like to put all there samples that they have already saved into the HD aswell. Everybody has there own way of doing things so it's different strokes for different folks.

im with 714 its nice to have that space on my machine so if i go somewhere with the xl,all my samples are there.not to mention if i wana cop somemore sounds from someone.i know 20 gigs is big for an mpc but i have every thing there & will never be without "thet snare" or "that kick" or "check out this old beat i did".i work at other studios at times & it helps alot.PABLO what drive are you using because i cant even tell mine is on.i have a fugitsu.real quiet.but the switch is easy to do i did one so my drive will last longer. peace.

I am using a Toshiba drive, i can't remember the model #. I'm not near the MPC right now. I am having a problem with the drive though.

When I access the drive in the MPC, it formats it and partitions it. Then when I connect the drive to my PC to dump my drum library into it, it only shows up as having 1GB of space. What am I doing wrong?

So, how do I access the other partitions on my PC?

it means you need to make a fitting partitionsize which wraps up the remaining diskspace.

I don't understand. Would this be done on the MPC or the PC? Please excuse my ignorance.
