Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By clarkkent Wed Jan 09, 2008 2:53 pm
When I record on the MPC and I switch to another track to hit record....it erases what ever I had on the previous tracks...Like ill start off recording on "track 1"...then ill go to "track 2" to add on to "track 1" but the second I hit "play start" to record...it erases that I had before it. Is there a way to fix this?

Huh? Please give more detail as to EXACTLY what you are doing.

Well ive never had this problem and my 2000xl has been working fine for almost 3 years now...but all of a sudden when I want to start ti make a new beat...ets say Ill go to track 1 and lay down a piano track...then ill want to go to track 2 to add to it...but the second I hit record it automatically erases whatever I had on track 1...is something wrong?

Ok, just trying to eliminate the obvious, but you didn't accidentally set it to SOLO when you went to track 2 to record did you? I can't think of any other reason why track 1 would go away. When you go back to track 1, will track 1 play then? Can you see the note data for track 1 if you go into step edit?

Do you see the note data for track 1 if you go to step edit? If you've been rockin' your joint for 3 years I would *assume* you have some idea what your doing and this sh*t shouldn't be happening...weird.

Does your MPC exhibit any other symptoms?

It all started when I had this huge blackout over here in Los Angeles and all my stuff went off...and when it came back on it was trippin...first it was my fantom but i fixed it...now its the MPC...

Is there a way to do maybe a system reset or something?

If you had a blackout B, your MPC *may* have been damaged.

I never thought about an UPS for my MPC until this very moment, but I will look into it now.
