Choices I have about Akai Mpc Series

The 4k has the potential to be the best mpc EVER if they can fix all the BUGS in it and have it totally bug free. Until then the 3k is the best mpc ever. The 1000 is no joke, it's a little beast that's slept on, and I am tired of cats knocking it, I tried it a couple weeks ago and was very impressed by it considering it's low price, I was expecting much less. It is the best value in the MPC family in my opinion.

if it is such a good value,then why is it that i keep coming across people that said they took it back,or friends of a friend has returned it?

I was excited about it right before it came out,but the OUTS routing on the 1k has really turned me off....Unless they can fix that in an O/S update where you can set each track to an out......but will that be able to happen before i cop mine?

Anyways....I haven't made up my mind yet but ..... it's ok i got time....

this is what i'm atill praying for too my man....i dig my little machine man, but some of the design issues/idea, make no friggin' sense...none at all....

indeed i thought highly of the little thing untill,i heard about that OUTS problem

that was a turn off,then other things started to bother me,i'd like one but im not sure if i want to depend on the computer as much as that thing requires.....

i have a lot of stuff for the PC but to be able to not DEPEND on the pc would be great!

I feel if you have a computer and a simple program like cool edit pro you really dont need a 4k. The fact that people are still using mpc 60 and 3000 just lets you know that all that you need to get done in a mpc hasnt really change. Now days Newbies think that they need 4k to with the in crowd. 90 percent of good music out right now wasnt done on a 4k. I feel if your a die hard sampler and you dont want to learn a computer or dont even play to pick up a keyboard then a 4k may be a good pick. I feel for the price of a 4k you could get yourself a good keyboard and a mpc 2kxl or 1k and maybe have some money to save up for a good computer. I know every thing that can be done in a 4k can be done once i track my beat in to nuendo and ill have better effects

but this is mine after playing with the 1k at GC today i found i think it's wack,i hate the feel of the pads

im more determined to get the 4k now,but i am considering the 2k as well

4k is top mpc on the market, bar none

With a 4k, you don't need a computer at all, the in depth sampler, the deep synthesis, qlink basically for automation and controls, ak.sys, new and improved mixer, large screen, able to usb harddrives, pc keyboards to type, midi editing alot better on the bigger screen with the piano roll and drum matrix like editor, more sample time, higher resolution sequencer, kinda goes on and on

Don't get me wrong, I still got a 2000xl, love that machine its great, but the 4k takes that whole thing alot further, some peeps say its harder to use its really not harder to use, its just its ALOT more shit to use, not to mention cats lacking the knowledge on synthesis, makes it seem like its alot harder, point being, it'll be years before you pretty much hit a wall, have a good understanding of every feature to the point where you incorporate them into your music daily

Only thing I pretty much use after I got outta the whole program/gear lust thing is my tst88 for a midi controller and sound module, mpc4k, a couple other keyboards as soundmodules, and a digi 002 to track out my audio tracks to PT so I can get that good mix with waves and various other plugs I like for various things, only weak part is the 4ks fx, but its not like thats surprising akai never puts gold fx in their mps

To address the bugs, it shows how much people really stay in loop, after 1.51 bugs virtually don't exist, there are still some problems like the MONITORING return level before you apply an FX in resampling mode, the long awaited Audition from HD, Stream from HD, but its not stopping me from enjoying my time with the 4k, when it comes it comes, would make it all the more better

as far as pricing differences, its pretty much funny how hardware owners can still debate and be fickled over small amount of money in a pretty much price tag job / hobby for those who still trip over price

2xl is like 1100 fully loaded
4k is like 1300-1400 for le add another 100-200 yourself you can add in the HD, CDrom, Ram, then cop the 8outs,Digital I/O etc for more money

Basically pretty much a little bit more chump change to step up your game
Say goodbye to FL as well you can trash that

Yup, 60/3000 owner....I cant use a 2KXL, it doesnt do what i want it to. the shift, the swing, the click track aint on beat, its all wrong on the 2K, it makes it hard to do a swingin track. It only sounds cool when you leave shift on 0 and swing on 50% and put the timing on 1/32....i also edit samples numerically better than that little waveform sh!t on the 2.

With that being said I like the 1000 alot.

anyways i haven't got to experience the 60 or 3000 yet

but i have played with the 1k 2k 4k, 4k is/was my favorite experience.

does anyone think they'll ever add audition from HD?

and what is the LE version of the 4k and who sells it?
can you add the HD and cdrom yourself or????

that qouted price is cheaper than GC they have the 4k at 2800

Nothing wrong with the 1000 - I used to have to 2000xl (sold it)

I wouldn't mind a 4K but it would mean selling some stuff and the set-up is cool right now

A G4 OS X - Logic - some ill AU's and a whole lot of viynl

There's absolutely nothing wrong with 1000 - you can change the pad senistivity and if you really don't need a computer for anything except backing up your data and reversing a sample

can you put any kind of HD CDROM and RAM into the 4k?
