Got my **** MPC...its confusing as hell, but nice

hey thanks man, yeah im so excited to get started, i kleep procrastinating going to radioshack and getting the cables i need to sample off my turntable, but ill be doing it soon...and then itll all be over haha

but for now, jsut messing aroudn with the standard factory presets...its kind of fun but i dont like most of the drums

ok...question? when im taking samples offline, how do i put those smaples into AKP format (or whatever it is called) and then using bluebox, ptu those samples onto my mpc1k?

i understand how to program in analog samples, since the manual goes over that, but it doesnt talk abotu getting samples through the computer...adn i downloaded what ui thought were a few samples from here: http://www.hexawe.net/mess/200.Drum.Machines/
and when i tried to put them into bluebox it didnt recognize them as akp files(or whatever)

All of my samples in my library are wave. I only use bluebox for finding the Tempo of samples and nothing more.


If it is in Wave format to begin with all you have to do is drag and drop it. I will also send you a link to some sounds if I haven't already....


I have no clue what the other formats are that you listed.

the bluebox was tlakgin abotu that akp file...but yeha this rwelly clarifies it for me, so i jsut go into my comptuer and drag the wav files into the CF device?

ok, well i put 8 smaples in, and it was easy as hell...i plan to put more in later, but im going up and down the manual and i also pressed every one of the pads with mode pressed and i cnat find anyhting that talks about how i set the sammples to the pads? i would think thatd be right in the beiginning of the manual, being how its am ajor function of the device...but no, it doesnt even talk about recording samples unntil aroudn page 50, and after that its jsut about hcoppign them up and shit but i cant see where it says "hit this to put onto a pad"

the manual says it has to be converted to ram before beign used as a smple, not jsut on the CF card...well thanks manual, how abotu you tell me hwo to convert it to ram then

ok, i finally figured it out, i guess its actually really easy, btu the sounds i had ebfore wernt working so thats why i couldnt figure it out...thanks to shwell and anyone else who helped me

Yeah working with samples is still kicking my arse...

think the 500 takes upto 16bit wav, dunno about the bigger models

well, ive spent the past 6 hours straight on this thing, and ive made two beats haha...but dman my creativity is flowing, its not that it took me that long to make the beats, but ive made what is in my mind the two best beats possible with the soudns i currently have on it

i needd some quality bass samples, guitar chord samples and some piano, then ill be set i think

You may find some sounds here... You will have to do some chopping and sh!t, but you can do it....

i went to go buy the plugs for my turntable to hookup to the mixer and the mpc today...tis gunna be liek $50 for all the shit i need, so for now im samplin digitally...

got that dido song from stan by eminem today, jsut becasue stan was probably one of the first songs i heard with an obvious sample in it, felt i should do something with it for fun...

took **** forever to smaple and rename all of them right, but its all worth it in the end
