QUICK QUESTIONS

Im thinking about selling my 2000 for a 3000 and i was wondering:

Is there really any difference in sound?
Is there really a difference in swing/quantize?
Why is it more expensive?
Is there track mute for live use?

Are they available in the UK? I never see them over here!

1. yes, between 2k and 3k it is, 2k is the weekest sounding MPC, you can find it easily especially in high freq, when 2k got harsh/overdrive sound, but it's not so big...check MPC comparison on that forum

3. because - a. a hype;), b. because is much better built than any other one, c. because it's ROGER LINN design, d. because sequencer, e. because workflow, f. because standard 10 outs, SCSI, g. because looks great and you will love it:).....so many because.......because Dilla, DRE, and many more biggest name in business:)

5. they are very rare here and costs between 800-1200£....check SOS website and ebay, you can buy one in US, but you risk a lot.....plus bl@@@dy VAT, shipment, and Custom....plus power adapter...at the end of the day - it's exactly same price, plus you never know what you buyin' mate.....

Everyone's always talking about how much better the 3k/60 sequencer is. I have a 60 and think the sequencer's great, but I haven't used the other MPCs, so I'm wondering what the difference is.

The 60 Sequencer is just like the 2000/XL & 4000. The 3000 is the only one that is on it's own. The 1000's sequencer is really tight if you compare it to the 60 or 2000/XL's or even the 3000.

Find one here in the states, send the proper amount and I will ship it to you as a gift.

OK cool, but what makes the 3000 so special? I'm assuming when people say they like the sequencer better, they're referring to the quantize, but why is it better?

I never quantized on that machine cause it quantizes almost for you with the Timing Off. The swing of the 3000 is just unexplainable till you own one. The 3000's sampler is just really warm & full soundin instead of thin & weak like the 2000/XL, 1000 ,2500. I never really had to do much in terms of Layerin & EQ'n on the 3000 cause it made my drums already sound pretty bangin. When I sample on the 3000 I had to turn the lows down and give it more highs cause it just puts so much low's in the sample. It also is a really good machine for when you find a bass sample in a record even it has instruments over the top you can still filter it down and make a bassline out of it.

Thats bollocks theres a few in the UK and I'll tell you something else they rarely go higher than £7XX these days even with all the upgrades...

I've never seen a 60 cost 4 figures in the UK in over 5 years

I would say SOS is prob the best spot to find one, they seem to crop up there more than they do on Ebay UK
