what exactly does amount do/

I been playing with this for a while don't know exactly what it's for in the timing screen of the mpc the amount what does that do for you?

The more amount you put, the later/earlier you will hear the sound. It's for making certain elements swing a little/a lot. Experiment with different settings 1/8, 1/16 etc and you will get the general idea.
Basically it's used to move samples even one tick further or back.
