Do any professional producers use the 500 or 1000?

i think an mpc1000 touched firework inappropriately when he was little

1000 is definately not a toy and chopping breaks numerically is not all that fun and fast when you got waveform edit available

/ music is a business or sound not how something "CHOPS"....."

good equipment doesnt make good music on its own.
Anyway, Autechre have a MPC 1000, at least for live...

Madlib uses the SP-303 and that thing is far from a pro sampler. Speak N' Spells aren't pro synths but numerous pros use them.

OTOH - YT is flooded with beatmakers using top gear and can hardly replicate Laffy Taffy.

Who uses a 1000 is far less important than "How well".

boon doc uses the 1000, and hes makes some real dope shit, it depends what u mean by pro, but its not what you use, its how you use it

yea his mobile setup. i remember seeing a pic with him chillin in a hotel room with a 1000...all good if im wrong tho.

when i buy gear i look at the long term of it. i can learn how to use anything. most gear within the first two days i have it down and can comfortably produce with it. so to me i dont want to buy something thats going to be broke or have problems in a couple years. the older mpc's are built better than the new ones. thats a fact. the new ones have some more features than the older ones. but i dont consider the extra features to be over the top. and certainly not a deal breaker. i have been fortunate to be able to work extensively on a number of different model mpc's. and the one for me that fit the best was the xl-mcd. and alot of the pro's feel the same way. i saw a kanye vid where he was talking about his asr10. he said that he uses it because it works for him. its a little more work to use it. but if it ever breaks, it will be in the shop and it will get fixed no matter how much it cost's. find what works for you. some times its trial and error.
