ok heres the deal, i got my mpc on tuesday and i am still getting my head round using it. i haven't made even a simple beat yet.

the thing is, i haven't had that much free time to jump right in as this has been a busy week for me but i've spent a good few hours with it.

a problem that i should have taken into account:

i have dyslexia and i'm finding the manual quite daunting.

but i'm determined to strive on and get my head round this, i've already fallen in love with this machine and it wont go to waste.

i'm having problems with my drum loops and ive tried the manual and it is pickling my brain. i want my drums to loop exactly how i would like them, for example:

if i play a small drum set on the pads, i want it to loop with a small pause in between each set of drums.

i've tried timing correct but to no avail.

i woudn't be a b*stard and just ask y'all to run to my help, i was just thinking

if i purchased the mpc tutorial from mpc-tutor.com would it be easier for my brain to dijest and would it work with jj?

i know this is illegal but download a bootleg copy of FL studio. Some people are visual learners. It'll help give you a visual of how a sequencer works. Once you get a firm grasp of beats and bars, translate that knowledge into the mpc's sequencer. OR, watch tutorials on some of the software sequencers. Remember...beats and bars, ignore the extra sh*t. Read up on some basic music theory and focus on tempo, time signature, beats and bars. That should help you understand how to better program ur drums.

i already got fl studio, i've had that shyt for a while, i've aslo got reason aswell.

if you need to see your drum hits visually, there's always GRID EDIT in JJ OS as well... that may help.

Iwas having the same problem with the manual but I read it at least four times this past month.... I also got the tutorial while running the JJOS 3.08 and most of it is to the point, the few things that are different you can usually figure them out fairly easily.

I have been finding things a little easier to figure out by just playing with it. You are gonna have to make the time for it. I hope you get through the Different ability ( I like that phrase). I suffer from short term mem loss, so if I read something in the manual/tutorial I have to do it right away in order for it to vaguely stay put and be useful...

cheers shwell, my dyslexia isn't too bad,

its just i have trouble recognising long terminologies, like i might know exactly what a word means, but when its down on paper it takes me a while to recognise it, but i'm still going for it, i've had lots of fun already.

i think it might be a good idea to go with the tutorial. might be a bit easier to cope with
