HELP!!

Alright, my partner came through to hook up my mpc60 ll last night and I figured I'd give it a little trial run and feel it out. So I sampled a new sound which went through and could be played back(soft key1) but when I hit the drum pad I assigned it to it would not play. It just gave a funny feed back sound, almost like a hissing beep or something(I cant really explain it). Also, when it started to record, the screen said Record light on but the light on the record button did not light up. And for some reason the disk light was on although I had no disk in the mpc. Please help...

what up, sounds like you got a faulty mpc, take it to get repaired.

Damn, I was hoping that wasnt or isnt the case although I was gonna take it to be looked at to get a general overview but I was hoping it would be operable in the meantime. Anybody know anything or have an idea what it could be..PLease HELP!!

I can't believe this...I went to ebay to leave feedback for the person who sold me the MPC. So b4 I left negative feedback I contacted the seller. And before I even tell them the problem the email me talking about they ordered the memory card, it should come in a few days and they will send it to me...I'm like "When did y'all plan on telling me?!". Anyway, do you think that this could be tied into the problem I'm having with my mpc?

there is no ram in there maybe.

cause there is no memeory card for the 60, just disks.

So what could the seller be referring to? They specifically said memory card.

Thats funny homie, I just got home readin' your reply and I got at the cat earlier. I told him I didnt expect it to be in excellent condition cosmetically but when he stated it as such I expected it to be on point as far as how its functions were concerned. He gave me his word via phone conversation that everything should be up to par and that he's going to call me tomorrow to do a run through an make sure...So we'll see...I was at work at the time.Good looks Dove Ski..appreciated.

sounds like he's being cool. If it can sample a sound and play it with the button it must have memory.

maybe he is talking about the memory expansion, it is on a card.

What I would do, and you should if you are confident is open it up when it is unplugged, touch the big metal transformer on the right, and make sure all the ribbon conectors are seated tight. Especially the one with the pads on one end. Be very careful, don't force anything, just push them in gently. And any ones that are on circuitboards that bend when you try to push in the connector, use your other finger to brace the board so it doesn't bend. Or just wait for the walk through and get your money back if it is wrong.

Oh and the beeping hissing sound is something you can hear sometimes if your levels are high, it is some digital bleed when you push the pads when loading sounds (hint, don't hit the pads when you are loading sounds from disk, it can introduce artifacts if you go nuts durring a sample.)

The hissing beeping thing doesn't happen to affect samples and sequences, or even pad banging at all, it is very very faint in the example above.

Nah the guy had no negative feedback which was definitely a factor in me purchasing from him. I'll have my partner take a look at what your referring to Elmacaco. I dont want to mess with cause I'm not real proficient when it comes to the technical side of things. I know he opens his 2000 all the time. Thanks for the input.
