Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hey Everyone,

So I just installed my card reader on my 2kxl (which has OS 1.2), put in a 2g card, and tried to see if the MPC read the device....it didn't. Checked the insides; the flat cable is in the "ATAPI/IDE" slot, and the reader has power, but my MPC doesn't seem to be reading the device.

Any advice? Do I nee to format something? What's the deal?

Btw,

My card reader is a PSI-IIC card reader. On the website, it specifically said that it was compatible with MPC 2kxl's.

Does your card reader have jumper settings?

If so, make sure its set to master.

Also check you have your ribbon cable in the right way around.

Done did that.

Checked the jumper settings, and the inside of the card reader says that the master setting are pins 2 and 3. I've tried twice on pins 2 and 3, and it still doesn't work.

Are there settings on the MPC I need to fiddle with?

Problem solved!

When I switched the MPC on with the compact flash card in the reader it recognized the ATAPI device.

Sticky?

try a 1gb card, there's less issues with that. even if it recognises th 2gb it restricts it to 1gb capacity anyway i believe.

You know, i'm just not sure what company I got it from. I'll check when I get the chance to.

It's hard to find any Compact Flash II cards that are smaller than 2gb, but if any place is gonna have it, it's gon' be CVS. I'll check it out.

Peace and tanks again everyone!
