another sampler?? no pc wanted.

i have a beat playing on the mpc. i want to record a guitar/ scratch/horn/vocal/whatever sample live to sequence along with the same beat. do i wan to cop a s950? or something comparable? i like the s-950 for the money and the 12 bit. but what other sampler would work well w/ 15 or more secs of sampling at a decent bit rate and some nice sample manipulation features? i don't want to break the bank on a nother sampler i just want to sample a live take while the mpc is playing. but conversely i don't want to buy something that just scrapes along...

i had a s950 - nice sound but didn't like the small screen - also the ak.sys software on the newer models looks a good bet.

but if you're just looking for a cheap sampler to record ideas then can't go wrong with the s950

check out akai s2000 sampler.

The s950 doesn't have that much sampling time. Try to get your hands on a Yamaha tx16w with maxed out RAM. They're cheaper than a 950, and 12bit too. The OS sucks, but you can get a new version called Typhoon on the net.

I got a yamaha tx16W, I never use it. I dont' know if it has the full memory, if anyone was to make an offer on it I'd sell it to fund my record habit...

I already have two of them, and i'm in Europe. Why don't you use it yourself? Most people that have one and use Typhoon are really positive about the tx16w.
It has 6 outputs, enough sampling time for drums, good filters and great sound.

Honestly, I am quite happy with my mpc2000, and I don't have that typhoon stuff on the tx16. I just wanted to get rid of it to fund my record habit.
