I have my MPC hooked up to my Motif 6 Classic as a slave and it seems to work fine except for one thing. If I play a melody in the lower octaves on my motif it triggers the drum samples I have loaded on the MPC. How do I stop this from happening?

Yup - when the MPC receives MIDI In, it will play whatever Program is selected on the Main screen, so set Program=Off when you don't want that.

The most flexible way is to set Local Off on the Motif, then Set MIDI Thru = By Track on the MPC. That means all MIDI traffic gets routed and controlled by the MPC, even notes played on the Motif for the Motif. That avoids MIDI loops and duplicate notes, and makes sequencing more reliable: what you hear is what you get, as long as you include the correct Program Changes in the sequences.

I like the idea of a "Motif Classic" - makes my K5000S look vintage...
