So does this mean that my 1000 I bought off of ebay ages ago that has the 128 mb of ram only has 64 mb? Do I need to take this out and purchase the 256mb card?

if it registers on the mpc that you have 128mb installed, then you don't have to do anything.

Ah, I gotcha...it says "128 mb installed" on startup, and I've never encountered any problems...just reading that made me wonder...

Here goes nothing:

I got a 60GB hard drive and it works wonderfully (I will list name and model Later)..... It was used and is broken up into 2 partitions (I thnk that is the word).... One is 45gb an the other is 10gb.... How do I make them one drive? One is listed as F: and the other is listed as G: ............ I guess it was originally setup wih a backup??????

Nevermind, i figured it out... I just had to format it using the MPC and it took care of it for me.

IF it is installed in the MPC you can go to the load screen (Mode->Pad 2), and it will show the "HDD Free" (Mine says 5334 MB free, and I have a 60 gig HD)...

Another way to see what the entire size is, would be to connect the MPC to your CPU and "mount" it... (Mode->pad 2->f4(USB)->f6(mount)), then you can go into "my computer" and select the drive then right click the select properties and it will show the size of the drive.......

This is how i can do it.... If you have a MAC then I have no idea. I am running JJOS, I am not sure if the window in the Akai OS shows the same info...

aha, thats why i didn't see it. There's no HD installed now.

hi, i'm a total newbie to all of this - i've recently bought a 2500 and i want to add a harddrive to it, i've searched the 2500 forum but this was the closest thing i could find. two things i need to know: are the harddrives that are compatible for the 1000 also compatible for the 2500? and, do i need a HDM-10 kit to install one in the 2500? i found another thread in the 2500 forum that seemed to say that the mount was already in place in the 2500, but i've heard otherwise. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

Its a gooda western digital 120Gig IDE , 5400. Formatted using JJ OS2, works a treat, faster saving than CF card. The bloody enclosure thing was almost as expensive as the HD, mind you lucky to find one in Aussie land.
