my 60 is making random noises

Hey guys,

I love using my mpc60 but it keeps having the same damn issue.

Every now and then it will just play wierd phantom noises or partial soft parts of other samples like it is triggering them or something....

i have checked the memory is in tight.
I have cleaned the pads and checked all the cables.

If you look at the file in an editor it starts at ~ 00:00:00.434


Has anyone got issues similar to this or is my mpc broken.

Yeah that stuff happens to me too. I've always thought that it's really weird when a ghost sample leaks through on another pad too. I have no idea why this stuff happens. The tiny little ghost note in the sample you posted is barely audible at a normal listening volume (and this is through my Sony headphones), but when I actually heard it, I thought it sounded pretty cool in context. If it's stuff like that, I wouldn't worry too much...try to enjoy it for what it is. Maybe you're being a little too critical on a computer that's almost 20 years old.

Well if that is the case, does anyone own a 60 that does not make these noises?

How often does this happen to you? It's really pretty rare that I get those quiet triggered sounds. Are you getting any noises other than these ghost notes?

i solved it.

It's the memory upgrade.

I took it out and it ain't doing it.

I'm gonna spray the socket and the plug with a can of compressed air and see if it comes good.

so it started making the noises again and now i figured out its party the
mpcEditor making some of the samples glitchy and the other wild noises are a result of the mains.
God Damn 50hz.

I plugged it into an invertor running off a battery and sampled straight in and it's never sounded cleaner.

Is there anything i can do to clean up the AC mains power.. i built this box that was suppose to filter it but it didn't help....

The noises may be the mpcEditor, but the ghost is not cuz my 60 I does that sometimes(sometimes its mad annoying) and I use no PCs in the sampling or overall creation process, strictly vinyl and mpc. As far as your power filter goes, did you assemble it with quality components that were rated to handle the power(ie:High Capacitance Capacitors that handle at least twice the RMS voltage output of your socket, and Iron core inductors with thick wire.)? Also are the Caps hooked up in the right way with regards to how they are polarized? If so then you probably have a groundloop somewhere in your house's wiring.

If thats the case then I doubt any sort of power filter is gonna do the trick.

invertor does the trick.

if i got a USA invertor i wouldn't even need the stepdown and mpc could run at 60hz.
