good CF?

Aight yall check it this is what i wanted to get a Seagate 5GB CompactFlash Card would it work with my MPC 1000? GET AT ME

I doubt it...... It will read the card but it will only recognize 2GB of it, so buying a big one like that aprticular one is a wast of money.....

Check the last 2 pages of the STICKY that has CF and RAM Recomendations...... I posted a link to a set of carss that actually are big and work.. I am not sure what the exact difference is, but the card itself is a bit dif than a standard CF card, but the MPC recognizes the bigger card... Iam running a 5gb version that I paid less than $20 for....

can you send me the link to that website?

Check out this link... I am currently using a 5GB sti cf memory card..... Scroll down to the bottom of the page, mine is 5 but I bet the 8 GB card will work as well, and the prices are wonderful...

so you have no problems with it? i have a 5 gig can i do everthing with it?

Why is it that in the last week or so we've been getting all these posts claiming that you can't format more than 2 gigs from people who obviously haven't tried it (or thought about the fact if you couldn't format a card larger than 2g you couldn't format a hard drive larger than that either), when at the same time we've had all these posts from people raving about how cool it is that they were able to format a full 20 gig microdrive?

Does the term "cognitive dissonance" ring a bell?

I have a 6gig seagate and a 4gig seagate microdrive. They work and read the whole 4 and 5 gig in my MPC1000 and MPC500.

There have been quite a few new post about this lately... I am starting to wonder if the stickies are even read these days.....

A MicroDrive????? What exactly are they, because that is what someone called my card, but it looks just like a CF card to me.

As far as the formatting question, I do not know what that is about... I have used 4gb cards that only registered 1.8gb new..... But that may have just been the card and he OS I was using at the time.

A Compact Flash card is basically a block of solid-state memory with no moving parts. A Microdrive is a tiny mechanical hard disk drive in a CF card package. The pro of the Micro is generally more storage space than regular CF. Cons are increased fragility due to the mechanical parts and increased power drain on the host device to run the mechanics (only a problem if you're running on batteries). Data access time may also be a bit slower.

If you have a genuine Microdrive it should say so on the card.

there's a difference between a regular compact flash card and a CF microdrive.... a microdrive, as the name implies, is a miniature hard drive in the shape and size of a CF card [although a little taller/fatter]. the mpc 1000 and 500 will accept MICRODRIVE CF CARDS higher than 2Gb, but not regular compactflash cards higher than 2Gb. get it straight.

Huh... so all those people who were able to get more than 2gigs were using Micros and not regular flash cards? I didn't catch that but I'd have to reread all those posts...

You guys have finalized my suspicions. The one I have is def a Micro Drive... And at 15.99 it is a better buy....
