If he wants to spend unnecessary money, than the 2500 just isn't good enough. Not anymore.

Preorder that 5000 NOW!

(So we can save money and let some other forum member type up the buglist for us to snicker at...)

i dont think it's unnecessary to want a piece of equipment that doest require constant maintenance and work around sollutions. i've had my 1000 for 3 years now and it seems like there is always something wrong with it. i dont really wanna give akai anymore cash but i want an mpc that'll last. and i'm really not impressed with the new pads..

Then why, oh why, would you EVER want to look at another Akai product again?

because despite the failings of the product, the mpc has become the centre piece of my production. i make my 99% of tracks with it and the whole workflow suits the style of my music.. i dont like making my music on the computer.

these forums can be strange, everyone slams akai but if someone raises a new problem [shitty new pad "upgrade"] they get shot down..

you realize that the new pads that you hate so much aren't very far off from the pads on the 2500, right? i think that's the point that was trying to be made in that last post.

the fixed pads for the mpc1000 use Sensitronic FSRs, just like the 2500 and 500

properly calibrated via software they are perfectly identical.

.noticed i had to put a generous amount of pressure for them to register from the beggining..same with the older model mpcs..

i got a xl and i can breath on the pads and they trigger. they are just that responsive. and if you want real quality your just going to have to give up some features and step backwards. i have the benefit of using a 1000 whenever i want and not having to purchase one. and imho i would rather use my 909 than the 1000. but my xl beats them all out anyday. the old akai is great. the new akai... well its just newmark :(
