ahahaha that's classic! For me it's the case of always having one screw left over after I finish, but I've never left anything inside (yet).

I don't believe there is a difference in what u use, it's the producer not the product. Hi-Tek and J Dilla both used 3000s, there drums didn't sound at all alike. U get out what u put in.

i only missed a few things when switching from the XL to the 3000. The XL allows you to manually stop while in sample mode. Where on the 3000 you have to set your sample time beforehand. Its minor, but I liked the ability of being able to stop it myself. Also, I work quite a bit on my Mac & its not so seemless to get files in & out to the 3000. Again, its minor & there are workarounds, but when you want to make music, these things wear on you. I still have the XL but it doesn't get used. I know that sampler the best. Thats the one I feel most comfortable on. However, the more I use the others, the less I'll miss it I guess!

i have the 60 for about 1 month, got it first with the 2.02 os, which was really sadistic for me... now i got the 3.1 and its a way better...

i had every mpc expect the 500 + 3k

was a longtime user of jjos 1k, after the 1k i switched to the 25k with jjos, but i didnt like the pads and i think its way too expensive compared to the 1k.... so sold it after 1 month.....
for a few weeks i got a 2kxl (got it very cheap from a friend) but i didnt like the thin sound and these scsi zips, sold it after 1 week....
now i bought a 4k, but it was damaged by transport and its still at the technical center.... will get it in a few weeks....

for now i have the 60 and can say following:
+ very good sound, best of all mpcs
+ best pads of all (think the 4k has nearly the same, not these fat rubbers like the 1k, 25k)
+ looks very cool
+ leather armrest
+ echomixer (for me the dopest feature on the 60, put a kaosspad or a
filterbox between and the thing will rock...)
+ floppys forces you to go only for sounds that you will really need

and negative points are:
- chopping
- loading
- and reduced workflow compared to the 1k


the feature i miss most is the shift feature from jjos

for now i am not sure if i will stay with the 60, but i ll try

I do like the 1000 with OS2 I must admit. I use it on the go. I sample all the sounds back into it from the 60 and record the beats via midi into it (my PC doesn't play ball transferring the files from the 60). Even though they don't sound quite as sturdy, they have more air and are a touch more bouncy I feel. Either suits me fine. I still would like to play a whole gig just with one set of sounds from the 60 though, just to find out how far I can take it...

I also like to use them together, recoding audio in the 1000, using the beat from the 60.

Ive had the mpc60 for years and now just got the OS 3.10.

Yesterday my AKAI MFC42 just arrived and i can filter all my samples into the mpc60 now. I couldnt be more happier.

I love the text based OS.

Ive started making beats back in 1994 using Kurzweil K2000rs with the Roland MC50 sequencer. All was good.
Then i switched to software sequencing back in 1999 but something was missing.

I am making beats on the mpc60 since 2004 and using just my ears to make music adds alot to my beats.

You get fooled if you use your eyes to sequence cos you catch yourself correcting stuff such as velocity with only your eyes while the pattern isnt even on play.

The people that will hear your music will only use their ears!!!

Anyway, sorry for getting out of subject but i had to get that off my chest.

I plan to stick with my mpc60 and I will pass it on to the next generation when i stop making beats (if ever).

I HAVE ordered an mpc2000 with zip and cdrom and maxed out memory cos i am very curious about sample quality, sequencer, workflow.

I beleive that each machine's limitations can take you to different paths of beatmaking. So its all good!

I want to get an ASR10 aswell and see whats up with that too.

I would add that if you have more than one mpc it's good to not switch between machines within a project because i found what sounds good on one doesn't always sound good on the others...

I can't bring myself so much to 'switch' between machines but to add machines...

Exactly! I hate selling stuff to buy other stuff! Cos im will always be trapped to one setup even if it sounds good or not (the new set up).

I still have my Kurzweil K2000rs, still use it here and there have made a few great albums on it.

I mos def use my mpc60, some times i blend with mpc60 drums and the loops, stabs and bits from my K2000rs sampled at a lower rate.

The possiblilities are endless. I even own the Boss SP202 dr sample and have used it in tha past a few times on drum loop based beats.

After the MPC2000 i wanna get my hands on an S950!!!
