Program mode, select the volume (or level) field, press window.
Now turn V->lvl down to zero, voila, velocity is now ignored.

my graphics card started crashing my whole computer all the time in december, so i set out to do a bunch of stuff with all hardware and leave the pc out of making music.

the way i've been doing it is slaving the mpc off a yamaha rm1x.
i make like a 16-24 bar pattern on each machine, i program the drums on the mpc and the instruments on the yamaha.
then once i got a basic beat, i keep adding layers of instruments and make alternate drum beats in the same pattern.
the idea is to get enough parts for a whole song to fit into that 16 bar pattern.
then i can control how the song progresses with the track mute screen on the mpc and a similar mode on the yamaha. all the tracks i end up with, they wouldn't sound good at all playing simultaneously, because there might be 3 or 4 different drum beats, and a bunch of rolls, and instrument parts for 2 or 3 different song sections. but playing them in pieces, i got a whole song with verse, chorus, bridge, or whatever.
i'm also thinking about maybe getting an mpd or something, so i can be hitting pads at the same time as track mutes.

Yo,

This isn't MPC related but you should all check out this dude Tucker from Japan for really creative live ideas. There's a bunch of vids on youtube.

He's in oz at the moment with the Big Day Out. He did a side show in Sydney last night but I couldn't go. You Melbourne cats should see if he's doing any side shows when that big debacle of a day out heads south next week.

Did my 1st live gig 2 nights ago and had a blast! played for 45mins just with the 1000, a technics 1200 and a mixer and some vinyl..

I had alot of sequenced material but played the main melodies, chops and some drum parts live. Also used the q-links alot for filter sweeps. Only managed to fuk up 1 song because i was too nervous

yo jpautomatic great combo you got there, I used to have an rs7000 back in the day, didn't have an mpc then but i remember that sequencer well, you must never run out of dope ideas to try with those two together.
cool vid too man, good music.

saint surly what about the details man the details, :D

By jpautomatic Sun Jan 27, 2008 6:38 pm
thank you, sir.
the sequencer on that thing is great. i've never used one i like better.
after doing most of my stuff on a computer the past year or so, its been refreshing to get back on hardware and let my hands do the talking, instead of poking around with a mouse.

Keep it simple and have your sh1t organised!!

keep your pgms' on point and consise, before we could only use 24 but now with jj we can use 99 so now its down to sample memory, use your samples effiencently.

...oh and have FUN!!!

i only use a mixer and the mpc, i might start using my laptop for sound effects! so that i can stop bashing the sh1t out of my pads!
