i got a new backlight for my 3000 but it hasn't improved the situation, and as there is no glow coming from my screen i think the inverter is broken, can anyone help me out, whats the next step to getting it fixed???

contrast on/off button not functioning, it never has been, although if turned contrast works fine just no back light, my guess is a lack of power. It had some white light leds that the previous owner had installed themselves in the same path as the backlight  only 1 seemed to be getting power and very little at that. So this is what makes me think the inverter is not discharging enough power

http://www.forat.com/

save yourself from the stress, just drop the extra dimes and send it to them..

and you'll probly save your mpc 3000, unless you know what your doing.

I know for sure that VST sells 3000 inverters if you do end up doing it your self. I bought one for my 60 because the original mpc 60 part is hard to find. I think it was like $30 for the part. Im assuming you replaced the backlight yourself?

feel you terry
have the same problem with my mpc60 display

dont know the facts from the 3k display but i suggest you to find it out (which company, lcd platine, how many characters etc....) everything is in the service-manual...
and look for some replacement on ebay etc.
when you have luck you could find a whole lcd for a few euros

i also contacted forat (bruce is very nice and helpfull) but he suggested to repair it for about 200,- $ )....
i have seen complete 60s on ebay for 350,-

good luck!
