However if the pads can be changed in the MPD32, its a pretty solid controller.

Yep, they can be changed. The MPC 2000 padz should fit no problem.
I put the MPC 2000 pads in my MPD24. They gotta be the same setup

Good vid BTW! The first one I actually enjoyed watching.
Especially the Reason Freakin @ the End

how did you switch out the pads?

Credit and props to the person that took the pics.
Its easy to take it apart. Just pull all the knobs off and unscrew the screws underneath.
The main thing is to remove these 4 nuts under the Rotary Knobs and Wala!
Same Pads as the 2000. The MPD32 Gotta have the same pad setup.
Unkow how Wakai DOO. The recycle KINGS!

AKAI'S FLAGSHIP PAD CONTROLLER WITH GENUINE MPC PADS.
The MPD32 is Akai Professional's ultimate velocity-sensitive pad controller for musicians and DJs. Modeled after the industry-standard MPC series, the MPD32 delivers the most expressive software beat control available.

Sixteen velocity and pressure-sensitive genuine MPC pads provide the industry's finest feel and expression. Four selectable pad banks for a total of 64 playable pads, eight assignable faders, eight assignable switches and eight assignable, 360° knobs for transmitting MIDI Control Change data, all combine for unprecedented creative freedom. Three selectable control banks extend the number of available faders, buttons and knobs to 24 each. Two assignable footswitch inputs and an expression pedal input takes the total assignable controller count to 75 - the most by far in any pad controller.

The MPD32 also features transport controls for interfacing with DAW/sequencing applications. The MPD32 is a fully programmable controller and multi-functional control surface that fits perfectly within any production or performance environment.

o ok. maybe the padding will lessend the shock on my fingers then. for 300 dollars i feel this controller is overpriced. same thing as an mpd 24 just with a few more features.

good luck with that. i work mostly in ableton live 7 so with all of their midi effects, i do more than just note repeat and rather than holding a button i can just route the note/sound to a midi effect. Enough with that, have u seen the homebrew application for the korg padkontrol? They are doing testing for a 16 step sequencer on it.

If this is how expensive these things are going to be, you can definitely count me out. You might as well buy a used MPC 1000, MPC 2000, or even a used 2000XL.

That's just a ridiculous price for a midi controller. Plus its likely that they will have the same pads as the 24. MIDI sync'd Note Repeat should have been implemented with the 24 to begin with (one of my biggest disappointments with the Korg Pad Kontrol as well).

Keep in mind that this is an Australian website so when the "members price" is converted it comes out to about: $599.35

what wakai need to release is a controller with just faders and knobs. Because i gotta give credit to the MPD24 having much better faders and knobs and being generally much easier to program than my axiom. But the pads are nicer on the axiom so i sold the MPD...

but the knobs on the axiom are terrible...

If the price on the link holds any sort of accuracy then that is just a downright rip-off. They are adding things that should have been implemented a long time ago, at least in the MPD 24.

And now people are putting their 2000 pads in their MPD's?! What the hell are they gonna do? Steal even more money off their customers by releasing a MPD retro pad fix replacement, like what they did with the 1000?

I was seriously considering getting the 32, in spite of already owning an MPC, if it got good reviews after its release. But anything over $300 is just ridiculous. I might even push for $400 if its good enough to get someone away from using MPCs in favor of software.

Its $299usd. Still High, but I got a trade-in so no worries for me. As for the pads, We were talking about the rubber not anything mechanical when it comes to Replacing the pads. Just the rubber. Everything else is fine.
It was bearable before I changed the rubber, but I got bored and wanted to open it up, so I just updated the pads while I was at it.
