Sorry if this has been asked before. I scoured the forums for 30 minutes and couldn't find anything on this.

If I turn my MPC off, when I turn it back on, samples and programs that I have definitely saved will sometimes be missing. Sometimes, a sample will still be there, but the last second of it will be cut off.

I've got an MPC1000 that I just bought on Wednesday, and I'm running the stock OS. What am I doing wrong?

Have you installed more memory? Are you still using the 16mb stock memory? If so that could be your problem because when i got my 2500 the factory memory was so crappy that sometimes it would tell me that I didn't even have enough memory to even chop a sample so I had to upgrade and I haven't had that problem since.

No, I haven't, and I don't plan on spending any more money on this if it doesn't work in the first place. The problems I'm having shouldn't be affected by RAM.

I've decided to return it anyway, because it doesn't do anything I can't do faster and better with software I already have.

When you say stock OS, are you referring to what is on the CF card right out the box, or have you updated to OS 2.11 from Akai.......?

I read a few weeks back that the Akai OS has alot of bugs and this problem you are describing is one of them... I am 100% positive this is ya probem, but it def sounds like it...

If you have a card reader, try viewing the contents of the card that way and see if it is there..... And double check the manual o make sure you are saving everything correctly. Because you can def save a seq and not a sample and vice versa......

If it is the OS just give the JJOS 3.08 (free) a try. I am currently using it now and the differences in that and the Akai 2.11 vers are minute......

I hope I was of some help....

It's just the out of the box OS. I didn't upgrade to 2.11.

You were very helpful, thank you very much. But I've decided to return my MPC today. Even if it worked perfectly, it just doesn't have the functionality I was looking for.

The NEwer OS's do add some processes to it... But it seems as though your decision is made.... Hope you find what you are looking for.
