Thanks alot for doing that with the loop. I dont know about you but im not sure if i like the old school sound this has or not. Are there parameters you can change in this setting? How easy is it for you to get around and navigate through the windows so far? Thanks again.

Afa I can see now, the Q links control the start and end times in trim and loop mode. Not sure what mean with your last question.

In older mpc's you had to hold down the after key to get the slider to work in sample edit mode-

Also please clarify...if you assign the Q link controller for ALL pads, can you control ALL perimeters in the filter, amp envelope generator, and LFOs for each pad simultaneously?

The Q link control will affect all pads from the choosen program. You choose that program in the Q link edit window.

2nd question: no you can only control the parameters described earlier (cutoff, resonance, attack, decay, release, pan, level).

There is an AFTER KEY above each Q link slider and knob. In the earlier MPC 2500 OS, you have to actually hold down the AFTER KEY in order for the Q link sliders to control the start/end points.

That first part is great but the second one not so great. The JJ OS for the MPC 2500/1000 added global mode where you can adjust the filter, amp envelope, and LFOs for an entire program. I will have to add this missing function to my feature request list.

Well, I just did a random setting on the compressor settings. You can adjust attack, release, threshold, ratio and output level.
Actually I *do* like the overall sound of the OldSkool setting (not in this particular example). But it needs adjustments of the user of course for the right settings in the right situation.
The non-OldSkool setting of the compressor sounds quite good too tmo. But I am not a pro on this. I can only compare with the UAD-1 card I have with various plugins (and I like those a lot).

As for browsing the windows. Yes that goes well. Had to get used to the double button/pad press to reach the various modes though. But after a while that's ok.

I do miss the block cursors that are on the 4K sometimes, though those make much more sense on the 4k then on the 5k.

Oh no, that is not necessairy. You just use the slider for it. The AFTER KEYS have no function there (as far as I can see now. Remember, this thing has a zillion possibilties, but adjusting start and end time goes with the bare sliders for sure)

Maybe my last question lol , can you sample at lower resolutions then 16 bit 44.1 .... meaning when i hit sample is there a option to lower it to 12 or 8 bit sampling?

Nope, you can't. But you can send your sample through the Decimator or Resampler effect which will give a lot of bit reduction joy :D

Decimator removes samples without trying to hide the artifacts caused by it
Resampler does the same but will try to keep the soundquality. This effect is probably what you're after :)

I already know your next question...

And since the MPC 5000 can resample its own stereo outs (as well as the reported individual outs), you can easily record/sample these processed samples.

1. Can you post some actual pics of the unit besides the Akai and Namm pics?

2. Also, is Simult/2nd sequence no longer available? (two sequences playing at one)?

3. What are your thoughts on the improvements/additions to the Swing Menu: Swing applied to triplets, swing strength and swing window?

4. Where was this unit made?

5. Undo Key is supposed to work in several menus. In which Menu's does it work and how well does it to the job?

Sorry I don't think my mobile phone will bring anything exiting compared to the pics already there on the net :D

Simult/2nd sequence is indeed not on the 5k.

Will have to play more with swing to answer that question.
