A reccomended reference for BPM TC and Tempo?

I was wondering where I could learn about the basics of song structure and what all the 1/8th 1/32th and tempo is all about! If there is any recommended articles books etc. that I could use to up grade my tech. knowledge towards my production abilities listing or up'in links would be greatly appreciated!

wow thats your basic music theory beats bars and measures. I am not joking when i say go get you a music theory for dummies book , thats probally a good place to start.

I was looking more so towards the settings and what they really do on the Mpc more than anything... like measures and bars and how to time structure on the 1000 I appreciate your reply but somewhat harsh in your judgment.

bboy, those are resolutions, time signatures... its not tempo...

Ok the tempo of a piece (and i come from a french musical education so the terms may be wrong... yet)... ok

Tempo : the ''speed'' of ur piece... most of us count them in BPM.. beats per minute

Rythmic signature.. most of modern music go in 4/4... man read about that i dont want to type that out.. but lets give an example : U can count 4 equal times at each measure of a song thats in 4/4 ONE, two, three, four, ONE, two, three, four, ONE, two, three, four.... opposed to.. say... a waltz.. which would be 3/4... goes like ONE two three ONE two three ONE two three...... download a song in both and count... (most if not all pop songs are in 4/4)

The thing u talk about .. the fractions 1/8th 1/32th ... its NOT A TIME SIGNATURE.. damn i wouldnt want to compose a song in 1/32 AHAHAHA... but they are RESOLUTION to where ur mpc can put notes... its like say.. a grid.. that drags all the notes u play to the nearest division thats RIGHT on the BEAT..

like in a 4/4 u have 4 beats (temps) per mesure... then if u set it to 1/8... u can put a sound at each half beat... and if u hit a sound on ur pad outside the resolution, the mpcs gonna drag ur note to the nearest division...

man no kidding.. ull know that after 10 min of reading...

And some of us never ''read'' it.. u just.. figure it out by urself.. if ur visual.. try playing on FL studio... its well represented

so a song could be a 4/4 in 95 bpm... and thats all that could be ''absolute about ur track'' .... The hihats could be on 1/32... and the kicks on each first beat.. and the snare on the third beat.. of every mesure... but that would be a dull beat wouldnt it

i guess a LOT of the mpc heads.. as me.. dont use resolution most of the time... especially for drums... i rarely use it!
