man this site is right on point i luv it, just by reading every post on u guys tha u put up makes me feel like when i get my mpc1k friday i will already know what to do .... but still very patient ya feel me.

yo yo ramal,

you can jump straight ahead with the OS - it's a real good idea to upgrade
straight away... depending on how old the MPC you're buying is (whether
second hand, or new old stock) it may have akai os 2.10 which has a pretty
major save bug that can corrupt files. many many users on here have
experienced this and lost a great deal of work. it's pretty much irreversible.

so go for JJ! try the free version and then sling JJ some cash and have a go
at OS1... then maybe give OS2 a try when you get into it more...

oh and read up on the pad issues with the 1k... akai have released an 'upgrade'
(i begrudgingly use that term, considering the 'upgrade' is the standard in all
other MPC's.) and you'll definitely be wanting to get it... maybe not straight
away... but you'll want it.

but if you're buying a new MPC then it may already have them installed.

yeah i have my pad situation taken care of , im getting my mpc1k from guitar center and been paying on it since the begging of the year so tha guy there said they never keep none there, they order them for u. and eveytime i go pay on my mpc, i get on the floor model mpc1k and just bug out for about 30 min man that shyt is tiht. iv been going through the mpc like a book seeing how to lay basic tracks learning how to use the eq tha 16 levels ,main window functions just feelin it out, and tha guy at gc know about the pads so im good thanx for all info it wiil be well documented.

I got mine new as well and immediately upgraded teOS a stated in the first few pages of the manual... The Lnk I posted also leads to info on what is current (At Aai and how to update it..... I used the Akai OS 2.11 for bout a week until I hd a issue with loadng some stuff i savd... I loaded the JO 3.08 (Free) and haven't looked bak yet... I will def pay for a newer version of theJOS when I get the hang of the MPC as a whole.


Cotinue to do what you are doing now, read, read, and then read some more.... If you are truly having a problem with something and the manual is just confusing you more, then ask........ The more you read the more it will make sense, and the more willing the Old Geezers around here will be likely/willing to help......

When you get it, PM so I can find and send you some links to some free sounds..... Nothing groundbreaking, but it will help you get a start....
