Go to a pawn shop an pick up piece of crap Sears turntable, all you need is to get the sound into the box right? No need to go drop a good $800 on a SL-1200.

YO I got this numark 1510 from the pawn shop and it didnt have the cartridge so i went to guitar center and bought one i installed it and the plastic casing surrounding the needle drags on the record which makes the record skip, does anybody knows how to remedy this. Im new to turntables. any help would be greatly appreciated.

adjust the weights at the back of the tonearm. Spin them like a clock.

The back of the tonearm should have lie round wheels or something that you can slide or screw back.

Is it OK to use belt driven tables for sampling? Everybody says they suck. That would save some $$$. Those 1200's are way too expensive if ur not DJing.

What you're looking for is the cleanest sound possible (sampling) and a beltdriven turntable with a good hifi element will do the job nicely. Did you know that audiophiles prefer beltdriven turntables (LINN SONDEK LP12) over direct driven turntables?

"audiophiles" say a lot of things. Cheaper flimsy turntables will do the job yes, but be aware of rumble and warp, which are characteristics to judge a turntable by in sampling quality terms.

a 1200 or 1210 is overkill if you just want to sample, as recommended already you can purchase much cheaper decks which will have suitable results. Id recommend at least something in the dj realm, in other words a cheap stanton or numark with pitch adjust and cartridge assembly, enabling you to put a decent cart on there.

if youre sampling, it doesnt hurt to learn more about the culture of crate digging and scratching, which is an addiction and will bite you, so have a half decent deck and give in to the desire
