Also, is Simult/2nd sequence no loner available? (two sequences playing at one)?

What are your thoughts on the improvements/additions to the Swing Menu: Swing applied to triplets, swing strength and swing window?

Sorry I don't think my mobile phone will bring anything exiting compared to the pics already there on the net :D

Simult/2nd sequence is indeed not on the 5k.

Will have to play more with swing to answer that question.

Probably not, but it would make is seem more real and life-like. The pics we have seen on the net so far is like seeing a magazine picture of beautiful swim suit model that has been touched up. But in reality, she has bad acne and stretch marks on her thighs and stomach.

Hi,

I have an mpc on the way, but the following is a deal breaker....

1. Can you assign sequences to pads? (so I can play loops, fills, etc. in real time using the pads, not scrolling through sequences).

---------------

Also, can I import .mid files to be used as tracks within a program on the flash card? (is there a map of the folder structure somewhere, and is it accessible to us mere mortals? I'd like to create sequences in SONAR or Live and import them.

Thanks,

Chuck

So many questions and requests :P

1. When in the hard disk mode, please give us the list of sources the MPC has to choose from: Analog, Digital, etc

2. When in the Sample record mode, please give us the list of sources/input the MPC has to choose from: Analog, CD, etc?

3. Instant Track Mute function. I would love to hear what you can do with that. This is suppose to be a new MPC function. Using it, you can beat juggle between two loops and other DJ style techniques (which is already in the JJ OS I believe).
4. Sampling: does the Level Meter show audio activity with ALL input settings? Currently on the 2500, if you set the input source to main outs, it will not display anything in the level meter.

Folks, I need to *eat* too... :D

Will answer more soon. As for the midi files, I have to investigate. At least the other way around it works: the MPC creates midifiles from the sequences and I have imported one in Logic last weekend which worked fine.

Could even use a real camera.

Yes you can. There is a special mode for it even "next sequence". If you download my pics (see other post) you'll see a button in the upper right corner called "next seq".
Pushing that will give a visual of the pads on the screen, with the assigned sequence in it: http://www.synthmusic.info/mp3s/Nextseq.jpg
In the top you see that seq 8 is running, I pushed pad 7, so after seq 8 is finished, seq 7 starts. BUT, if you select seq 7 you can also push the F4 button (just cut off from the pic) to start seq 7 immediately if you wish. So you can do both: one after another, or realtime.
The 4 bank knobs gives you access to 64 sequences.

There is a similar Track mute screen:
http://www.synthmusic.info/mp3s/trackmute.jpg where you can mute tracks within a sequence. See the manual for deeper details.

Hope this answers your question?

There is actually a screen bug in the nextsequence window. The names of the sequences run through the right box :)

1. Analog, digital, main out, out 1+2, 3+4, 5+6, 7+8.
2. Same as 1 plus cd. This is all in the manual by the way.
3. Didn't test that (yet). Have to say I am completely NOT into DJ stuff, more the Jean Michel Jarre/Tangerine Dream kind of type.
4. Yes it does. Didn't test the digital in though. But main and subouts give activity.

So, what kind of sample do you want me to use to try those bitcrushing effects?

By Dj Solace Tue Jan 22, 2008 7:12 pm
Honestly i would like to see how it affects a piano phrase as that should cover the most octaves and result in the most artifacts. Thanks again. Now just get yourself a baby grand and mic it up then record a few passes of bach into the mpc then give it the bitcrusher.

OK, here are two mp3's (320 kbit). 1 is a grand piano through the Decimator, 2 is the same sample through the resampler. The sample starts with a grand piano in a very wet ambient reverb. I wanted to know myself what that does. Half way I turn the big reverb off.
While playing I turn the knobs of the parameters of both effects, and sometime leave it there a few seconds when I liked it.
The resampler is indeed smoother and nice sounding. Decimator could do well on drums I think. Again, all depends on your basic material and on the setting of the parameters of these effects, but my first impression: well usable.

I actually read the manual (believe it or not) several times. I wanted to see if certain features advertised is actually implemented. Hopefully this will give warm fuzzies to other potential buyers (or perhaps not).

But you are the man. I know who I am voting for in the primaries next month. SCD for President! (by the way...if the US's economic stimulation plan goes through, it could possibly pay for half of this MPC  ).
