my sampler is possessed....

was playin with my brand new mpc, and it was triggering pad 5 every now n then by its self.... what the hell man, i pay £500 (close to $1000) for this machine, n its doin this. Very very dissapointed man

ive never had that problem. sounds weird though idk could be a factory defect.

1. what model is it? (the black one with new pads or the old pads? or the old blue one)

2. what OS are you running? (akai or JJ?)

3. where did you buy it? (do the c*unts offer an exchange?)

include any other shyt you might think helpful to us.

its the black on, i bought it brand new, im runnin the akai os, and i bought it at a shop nearby, luckily theydid offer a refund and gave it back, its mad, was just randomly playing the record pad, oh and btw i stuck to the akai operating system, cus my mate bought one as well, he installed it, n put on jj os, the pad sensativity was extremely low, even after putting them up to 25 on the pad sensativity, any of u guys experience that?

same problem here. running jjos2. problem is on both the os1 and2. In my case its pad 12 that start playing by itself. It starts sounding like a Squarepusher song, just triggering random pads by itself. I have the black mpc1000.

Agreed, Squarepusher is really cool! So, its kind of like instant squarepusher everytime i turn on the mpc. But, still. One of these days i might wanna make a mellow beat. Its really weird. The random triggering just started out of nowhere last nite. I turned it on this morning, and sure enough the problem was still there. Is it the pads or some kind of software error? The unit has the old pads from what i can gather.

do you have any MIDI IN cables running into it? if so, disconnect them and see if that stops it?...

No, no midicables. Reinstalled the org. akai os and it still goes crazy. It seems more pads are triggering now, really fast. almost 64th rolls. Nothing stops it. It used to come and go, now its there all the time. All in 48 hours.

talked to akai and my local dealer. they are both totally without a clue. they want me send it in for repairs which i will do. something about a shortcircuit on the mainboard. great. had this thing for 3 days and it just decided to break on me. probably feels bad being placed between a monomachine and a machinedrum.

yo welcome to my world, its a serious issue man, its alot of money, and you cant make beats havin the damn pads firing off when they want, still, i really wanna kno how to take preventative measures to stop this happening again, has anyone heard anything about possible causes? except factory defects?

Yes. Loose internal parts such as screws and connectors causing shorts. Some people have fixed these problems by taking the machine apart, making sure everything is snug with no exposed metal or dangling connectors, and putting it back together.

I wouldn't bother with that if the machine is under warranty (as long as you can easily return it).

just a quick update.
Im returning the machine tomorrow. but i couldn´t help myself, so i openend it up and disconnected the pads from the mpc. And voila, the problem went away. As soon as i connected the pads again (main connector), the random triggering came back. So, probably a short or something inside the pads. Hopefully i will get the new ones.

i'm not trying to be a smartass, but the best preventative measure is to not buy akai gear

BUT return that 1k and trade it for another
and another
and another

get one with the new pad assembly
