Question For Everybody That uses a Mpc500

Out of curiousity, I just wanted to know which you all use to chop up your samples to assign them to pads?Or do you trim the samples on the Mpc it self, Which Way Is Easier?

I chop on the 500, at first it seemed hard - but now I've got it down. Just keep adjusting until it fits right in the sequence after finding a good starting point to adjust from. Using extract, discard, and my ear I can chop a loop into 8ths really quickly on the MPC.

Well I Guess Thats What I Gotta Do....Im jus startin to get used to the Mpc... Im used to Fruity Loops....That Program is too easy to use thats why i got the mpc....

I use the 500 and I use Recycle, Audacity and Soundforge.

Its a good thing to use different methods, but def learn to chop on your 500 its not hard once you get the hang of it and learn to count beats. And Remember Knowlege is POWER!!

I use the 500 mainly but use audacity if I am having problems with clicks and need to get in real close to edit. I wish the 500 had a visual representation on the screen like the 1k...

I use Pro Tools and recycle to chop my samples - then assign them to pads

*occasionally* i'll use my old su200 i have lying around, VERY quick & easy, press start, turn the knob while it loops (can use a button for fine tuning), same with the end button. then hit extract. bang, the offcuts are gone.

all done by ear.
