Better workflow in MPC?

Hi,

I'm new to the MPC world. I'm thinking of buying a MPC1000 (instead of MPC5000, right? cos I"m new to MPC, or should I buy a 5000?)

Anyway, I also own a Ableton Live 7 and I use it with my Novation Remote SL25 to program the drums. I would like to know the benefit of having an MPC to my setup. Many people said it's the workflow, but since I haven't tried an MPC before and nobody near me own one, it is hard for me to know exactly how good to have an MPC.

Any advice would be good. Thanks!

wow, ableton live 7 and novation remote sl 25 is a very powerful setup. why not get a pad controller (mpd16, 24, 32, trigger finger, etc) and use it with the drum rack function in live 7?

p.s. are you familiar with live 7 at all?

I started using Live since version 6. I've used most of the functions except creating my own Racks. I'm actually a long time Digital Performer user. I'm not an expert on Live, but Live can really do something cool that's not easy to achieve otherwise.

What will I lack of if I only use Live and SL25 without an MPC? Or is it the same if I add a pad controller to my setup? Pls forgive my ignorance and lack of understanding to the MPC.

BTW, the drum rack is a very good enhancement in Live7

I agree with MWalker.

I've had my MPC well before I got into using computers with software (Live 7) so it's all I've known and yes I love having both set up together as if offers a lot of experimentation. If I had Live first then I would not consider the MPC as a necessary purchase.

Live 7 is so much more powerful than a hardware sampler/sequencer. If you want the interface of the MPC then get an MPD.

Thank you for your advice. Seems like I should hold my purchase but instead explore more on my Live7 setup first. I'm yet to find a faster way to program rhythms in Live. I was thinking maybe the MPC would be a good solution.

dont waste ya money b, u dont need an MPC inless u sample like that. If ur just looking for somethin to play ur sounds on and bang out go with a pad controller

thx for your advice. A pad controller is actually cheaper. I have an SL25 which I think the pads don't have a good touch. Do you guys think that I should get a MPD16 or MPD24 or not?
