Since I got the 8 out card I cant monitor while recording?

I got the 8 outputs card for my 2000 a while back, when im recording in the sample window I cannot hear what is being recorded unless I have the SPDIF output going into my interface. How can I monitor out of the 8 outputs instead?
I apologise if this is a dumb question

OK, I'm guessing on this one too, but since the 8-outs are assignable, and you don't/can't ASSIGN them WHILE sampling, it seems that you would still have to use the stereo outs or the SPDIF as you are using, for monitoring.

I'll defer to a member more knowledgeable on these things though, as I don't have the 8-outs for my 2k yet (damn mortgage, lol!)

if you dont want to use the spidf to monitor use the main outs still.

I don't have this card either, but this explanation seems very logical. Why not just use the main outs for monitoring?

yeh its nothin major,
Its just because im limited to 8 inputs on my interface, so every time I wana sample I have to monitor through the main outputs (so have to disconnect 2 jacks from the 8 outs) or SPDIF , and then once its done disconnect that and reconnect the 2 other outputs.
Im just being lazy wondering if there was a way around this.
