Thanks!

I have uploaded an older 3000 beat where I use the delay a lot. The delay is always on the main sample, and check the ENDING, where I boost the delay MUCH!

So peep the track TOO PROUD at

Props for "Carry On" !

Nice beats. May I ask what daw and or outboard gear you use? I've been hearing a lot of stuff on the net that sounds real professional. Good work!

If it's me you are asking I can tell you that I record my beats straight from my MP3000 to my Mac via the built in Mac input. I use garageband or audacity to record. Sometimes I run the MPC through my TLAudio Fat Man tube compressor. Thats all. Raw from the MP or 1200.

Thanks Deck. That's inspirational. I really need to put more time into my 3k. I started looking at the 5k and quickly realized I'm fine with what I have. Do you use it for basslines too?

the 3K reverb is usable, but for my taste i dont like running the same reverb on 5 different parts of the beat. i rather track it out and use different reverbs.

but recording str8 using just a little of it on main samples and maybe snares adds a lot of subtle depth. it def dont sound cheap like the newer MPC effects.

speaking of hidden powers of 3K dont forget to assign the filter to note velocity...

Thanks! By the time I made that track I did not do anything with the samples before hitting the 3000 either, just raw samples from the turntable. I still like to do this, but sometimes I cut off the really low freq's on most stuff that dont need 'em.

Yes, I use it for basslines too, and I think it works great for it! Just sub a bass tone, use the 16 levels feature, use note on, maybe add some envelope at the beginning of the sound, and you're straight. The filter is crazy. If you quantize, try to move the bassnotes back a couple of steps. You can do that with the hi hat too. And snares can often be moved a few steps foreward. Do anything that makes the stuff live and groovy. Turn off quantize on some stuff, experiment. I turn the quantize off more and more. Sometimes only the sample is timing corrected.

You'll get a lot back from using much time on your 3000, getting to really know it. I guess it's like that with any machine or tool.

I love the 3K reverb. It's my favorite reverb in the whole wide world.

i got a chance to fux with the 3000 last night....

LOVED IT!! im deff gonna get one....

the chopping is a bit hard at 1st but its something u learn...

i mean i found the chopping on the 2000 hard when i 1st got it.

i wouldn't know much about the sequencer at the moment, cuz i only quantize my snares for the rest i turn count off.

the filters sound nice and worn, much better then the 2000 as much as i remember of it.

just a real dope machine over all...

deff gonna get one or a 60 if i run out of luck on a 3000.

thats funny, cause i hate waveform chopping, numerical is quicker and more precise. one of the reasons i love the 3K.

Yeah where did Reverb come into play? The 3000 doesn't have Reverb!

Word, no reverb, but a delay.

And it is presentet in the manual on page 145. Don't sleep on manuals!

Effects Generator

The MPC3000 contains an internal effects generator capable of a
number of delay effects. To access the settings of the effects genera-
tor, select option 5 from the MIXER/EFFECTS menu screen. The
following screen will appear:

============ Effects (Delay) ===========
Vol: Pan: Time: Fdbk:
Delay 1= 100 50L 1486 100
Delay 2= 0 C 1486 100
Delay 3= 0 C 1486 100
==================================
(FX=ON )

There are three separate delays. Each has the following fields:
• The Vol (Volume) field:
This field sets the volume level to the stereo mix, simulating the
effects return level on a hardware mixing console.

• The Pan field:
This field sets the pan position within the stereo mix.

• The Time field:
This field sets the delay time, from 1 to 1486 milliseconds.

• The Fdbk (feedback) field:
This sets the amount of delayed signal fed back into the delay input.
The range is from 0 to 100%.

COMMENT: The feedback level of each delay is independent
of the volume level. This means that if at least one Volume
field is set above 0, then all of the Feedback fields will
produce feedback if set above 0.

COMMENT: Since all three delays use the same delay
memory, the feedback of one delay will include the feedback
of the others and will therefore add together. For this reason,
be sure that the sum of the three Feedback fields does not
exceed 100% or infinite feedback will occur.

COMMENT: The values used in this screen are normally
taken from the active program. Because of this, whenever the
active program is changed, the newly selected program’s
effects settings will immediately become active. However, it is
also possible to use effects data from the active sequence so
that each newly selected sequence will have its own
custom effects data, or to use a single master set of effects data so
that the selected effect never changes. This choice may be
made in the Mixer Source Select fields, accessed by pressing
option 4 from the MIXER/EFFECTS menu.

ya but that shit can sound like a reverb with low settings and no feedback. well to my uneducated but highly receptive ears it do.
