cant hear MIDI notes from micron

Ive been trying every parameter tweak and i still cant get the MPC sequencer to play MIDI notes sent from my Alesis Micron. I open window when highliting MIDI and on channel 1a a black box flickers quickly instead of lighting up when i hit a key on the micron. i am also aware that the MPC doesnt play MIDI notes through the headphone jack, so i use stereo out to a non-powered mixer......still no sound. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wow you need to learn Midi. Midi is not audio.

I think you might have to set up the mpc to recieve/send midi in the midi/sync(Shift+9).I set mine atleast on my 2000 and it works for me. Perhaps someone else who know more on midi can drop more info on it.Also cosign on midi not audio,you'll need to send the stereo outs of the mpc to a mixer and the outs of the micron to the mixer then the mixer outs to your monitors to hear both.
