Installing Ram on the mpc 2000

I just bought an mpc 2000 about a week ago and am new to this. I just installed 16mb of ram in the first slot on my mpc 2000. How come when I open the Sound Memory Window is says 2mb installed instead of 16 or 18mb?

you have to install the memory in pairs. so you either use 2 4mb chips 2, 8 mb chips or 2 16mb chips.

I installed the 2x16mb into my mpc 2000 aand it still says 2 mb. How do i fix this? Or whats wrong?

make sure its cliped and seated in properly. try to reinstall it. buy different ram cause yours is bad.
try it in that order.
