So yesterday I went on Craigslist like I do everyday and lately I have been trying to find a 3000 again but instead came across this deal. MPC60II with 3.10 OS & Marion SCSI & External Glyph Drive & 20 Floppies & New AKAI XR20 Drum Machine Sounds from the new machine that is about to come out all for $500. THe only thing wrong is the backlight but that's a easy fix.
Oh yeah and the guy I got it from last night had a MPC3500 sitting in his studio and I asked how do you have a MPC3500 and he says"I designed the AKAI XR20 machine & the sounds & MPC3500 Sounds not the machine but the sound. He said Akai changed the name of MPC3500 to the MPC5000 cause in December Akai decided to change it to go in numerical with their line of products. Akai took alot of the ideas and internal parts from the MPC3000 he said that they got a bunch of producers together and they all said that the 3000 was their favorite MPC. So I got to mess with it and it had this crazy Cycle function that would let you put like 8 bars of samples on 4 pads by like the how fast you hit 1 pad it would play at whatever tempo you want based on how fast you hit the pad. It's really hard to explain but that thing could make a huge difference in how you make beats. So before I left his house last night he is like hey Akai is gonna drop off another MPC5000 to me for free but if you want it I will hook you up.

Thats dope. Nice find. $500? With those upgrades seems absurd but if youre not bullshittin bout the price then, PROPS. And thats crazy bout the mpc3500/5000 shit. Crazy. Looks like all you need is a backlight now :)

Hey, are any of the beats on your Myspace made on the 60? Sounds like maybe "De Ja Vu" and "I Can't Hold On?"

Aww...bummer, you're already trying to get rid of it...still a good price for $700 though.

That's cool...but you're really missing out :D . Just curious, why do you keep selling your 3ks? Workflow?

I never really dedicated myself to them like i should have since I still had my XL and now that I got a couple of pieces of more gear I want to get one again and get rid of my XL & 60 too cause I hate the way the XL sounds now.
