so I installed and ran os2, thinking for some reason that it would be so much more helpful after reading all the fanboy posts about how great it is. I must just work differently, as I do most of my shit in the fantom but all it seemed to do is slow up my work flow...

Anyway, so I had it going for two weeks, had the drums for roughly 10 beats in there and was planning on purchasing the license today since I just got paid.

Scared as hell that the power might switch off for a second and I'd lose all my work. nope, GSOD... green screen of death. some memory dump issue...

... and there goes my beats. serves me right but ****!! I just sat there and stared... this is what I do for a living and I got absolutely burned.

vent vent vent

back to 4.99 for sure... and EASY layers

entire post edited

1 - running an mpc for a long time without saving projects is risky
2 - running a beta (albeit mostly stable) in the above circumstances is risky

i'm sorry about your lost work.

like I said in the other thread... I know.

but to me I wasn't really even liking the workflow in 2 but I wanted to finish that shit b4 I went back to os1. had I known forsure that I wanted it then I woulda got it a week earlier... I was gonna get the pass today cuz I knew inwas playing with fire and I felt like my beats were being held hostage

either way, envelopes and non dstructive chopping and instruments-- non of which are what I use an MPC for... to each their own at least

if you find yourself in this situation again, track your beat out so at very least you have a rough cut + the notation recorded.

how are you using your mpc in conjunction with your other equipment?

good idea huh... I just work so fast, always have 4-5 going at once, one gets finished up, two more get started, one other doesnt make the cut to get finished etc...

I run the mp as midi master into a fantom x8 where I sequence a lot of my melodies and whatnot. another midi out to a mac with
logic 8 which I typically use for audio, exs24, kontakt and some other various soft synths if I need a particular sound.

all these run out to big old mackie desk, run those masters usually just lightly thru an Avalon for that warmth and then back in thru the motu896hd into logic or reaper

wait, do you sequence on the fantom, or on the mpc?
