Just check OS2 online manual, pad pattern is shaded grey.

since this thread is more appropriately named i'll post this here. distorted, if you'd like to lock this i will not question your judgement 8) :

Since specification is not decided yet, explanation is not written.
JJ had said that arpeggio was also possible by setup of TUNE.
Moreover, since a screen is still added, it is not the determined screen.

Thank you.

if anyone remembers way back in os1 days the web page discussed "future additions"

"PATTERN" was one of those. i always wondered.
i can see this being fantastic for loop based individuals, and for freeing up extra hands in live use.

i wonder if you set pad A02 to play a pad pattern
and then simult A01 to A02
will the pad pattern play when you strike A01?

simult allows for a lot of really cool routing for your drum programs. i simulted both a "stunted" closed hi hat and an open hi hat to my downbeat kick, do that when i just tap it it plays a kick drum with a hat, and when i hit and hold the kick drum it does a nice "bhsssssssss"

then set the snare pad to mute the open hi hat pad for a nice instant cutoff

also since there is a tune parameter, arpeggiation will be possible w/ inst programs. though i wonder, since it operates with 1 pad, will portamento work?

this OS thing gets better and better and it wont stop.

JJ is a madman!

sorry to inquire what may be a stupid question, but does this mean playing a sampled loop by triggering one pad multiple times?

like the feature showed on the new MPC5000?

By dtaa pla muk Sun Jan 27, 2008 3:25 pm
nah i think this is a wholly different function, unrelated.
more along the lines of arpeggiator than that whole pad cycle thing on the 5000...which you can already simulate on the 1000 with velocity range layers or selection of currently playing CHOP by qlink

but pad pattern might be able to enhance this simulation if you can specify which CHOP plays by qlink in the pattern. we will have to wait and see.

wow, this looks like an 808 style type of step edit, with time shift and tune per step?
looks kinda dope...

would definitely be a nice addition.

the question, is qlink NOTE ON data per step, as well?
or does it apply to the recorded note only, thus effecting all steps of the pattern?

even if it's the latter, it's still very useful for INST programs and single-sound manipulations. a nice arpeggiator solution, a nice way to make cool quiet machinish hat patterns or snare fills.

but if it's the former, jeeez hus...so powerful.

man this is looking good ... so now we now why the midi note readout got deleted from the main screen, seems like another reasonable trade off!

surely OS2 doubters are gonna start believing soon!

It's better that we continue the discussion here, as you suggested. It makes searching easier for those who may inquire about it again.

BTW, this new feature looks sweet, and I'm looking forward to experimenting with it when it's implemented.

It looks like it could be capable of loads of stuff, im thinking that those velocity levels could be set up to make MIDI delay effects for starters. Im getting impatient!

man, if this thing could arpeggiate me up some midi...

I was thinking just about the internal sounds originally, but yeah this new features a mind boggler ..and if it was midi too?wow.
