If I'm going to buy a 500

I need to know if it will work.

Assuming I get a blown out mpc500, will I be able to use it in this way?

1. Bring it on the road with four or five samples to chop and my drum kits saved on the card.

2. Chop up samples and create programs, sequences, songs, save them.

3. Transfer them to my 2500 with JJ OS so I can then record tracks into protools when I get home.

Seems likely, but with all the complaints, I just don't know.

1. Yes, the CF cards can hold a lot, and the 500 (with RAM upgrade) should hold enough samples to make any instrumental, just save and delete when you're done with a beat and repeat.

2. Yes, no problem there. I sequence all of my stuff on the 500, with a different program for every song. Saving and loading are fine, except I have problems loading up effects.

3. Don't know, although I did what you want to do on your 2500 JJ on my friend's 1000 JJ, it worked fine.

I like the 500 even as my main sampler, and it sounds like it will just be a backup for you, so I'd say it's a good idea.

remember the 500 has 4 x 12 pads. i would've thought it'd be like using bluebox, just use the first 12 pads per bank. but no oj on the 500
