sequencing virtual instruments in pro tools thru MPC (2500)

this problem has really got the best of me lately...i have a motif, fantom, and MPC 2500 and i have no problem sequencing all these instruments thru it (the MPC) but when i try to sequence virtual instruments in pro tools thru my MPC it only lets me use one track of one virtual instrument despite the fact that if i use the instrument (sampletank) in standalone it respondes to my different outputs to control each different track MPC 1c controls sampletank track 1, 2c controls track 2, etc...but for some reason pro tools will not allow me to do this same thing with the virtual instrument (pro tools 7.1) and it sucks because it means i'll have to completely sequence my tracks in pro tools...thus defeatin the purpose of even havin an MPC....please respond...even if i assign MPC midi 1 to sample tank 1 and mpc midi 2 to sample tank 2 in pro tools it will not acknowledge them both...i hope im jus doin somethin wrong...help please!!!!

Did you create the instrument for the MPC in the MIDI Studio setup?

yes i did...and the funny thing...when sampletank is ran in standalone...all the tracks respond perfectly as i alternate thru them and assign different tracks in the mpc to control 1-16 in sampletank in standalone that is...but in pro tools...it doesnt work...any other suggestions? do u have a similiar set up and if so howd u get it to work?

I would record midi in to the mpc with sampletank as standalone, then create audio tracks and do direct recording soloing each vsti track. then i would erase the midi tracks and just have audio, chop it if need be, flip it, whatever. It works well and you can bypass protools.......later you can just track out audio.....plus you dont need to launch a damn PT session just to hear your track.

I once asked why my Korg Triton's notes, sequenced by the MPC1000, were not recorded when I recorded my song thru the mpc's main out.

I was told that it was normal - this mixes down what the MPC1000 generates out of its own outputs, so my other equipment won't be tracked.


I was wondering if it was possible to integrate external instruments as my external gear first, then mixdown the song thru the mpc's main out to include all my instruments.

Is there a tutorial or something on this?
