heres a view on connecting cables in logic 8, using the mpc as your controller.

For logic its pretty easy, but more complex than protools and ableton.
1.go to environment.
2.create physical input.
3.create channel splitter
4.connect cable form physical in to channel split.
5.connect channel split to the inst you want the channel to trigger.
6.your done

After you make your beat if you dont have usb, like on older mpc models.
1.save each track as corresponding to midi channel
2.save beat on zip
3.go to logic and select under file import, and import midi
4.drag and drop each midi to its corresponding channel
this part should actually take only about one minute.

Dont quantize in logic, keep the swing ofd the mpc. At-least i like it better.
ITs much easier to arrange on a big monitor.

Anyways give it a try. Opens up some doors for some

If your using protools you can just select the channel right on the instrument strip. Just hold and choose your audio card and the channel.
If PT wont pull up multiple chanels and it just says all than do this.
1.Go to setup/midi/midi studio
2.add new midi inst
3.make akai mpc/choose your model
4.connect cable from mpc to whatever protools card you have (in the midi studio) and physically
5.now when you pull your track up it should look like this=

My man... my man... I got a Mac Book Pro w/ Logic 8 this past Christmas.
Thanks for the info. I was wondering about the hook up to Logic. Cheers!

I have know idea what your talkin about man. You have to explain your problem with a little bit more depth. Why are you using reason when your using the mpc and logic 8? Seems like your going in a lot of different directions, but thats cool if it works for you.

if your talkin about syncing reason with logic, with the mpc,uummm.....
you can do it but theres not really a point in that, not mentioning that its a major pain in the ass,and you have to go into some pretty complex shit to get the timing all on.

yeah Whats up with that? I cant get my MPC to sync with Logic. Well, it syncs but then when logic loops, the MPC goes all weird adn stuttery..!?
Ableton Live, on the other hand, syncs perfectly... for days and days...
