if you convert UP from 6bit to 16bit, I don't think your sound will suffer. If you convert DOWN from higher than 16bit TO 16bit, your sound will suffer. So convert from 6bit to 16bit and load it into your mpc.
Just hope that there will be an UPGRADE to the MPC Editor, that will enable Zip disks users to do this. I also saw it on their manual...that it can only read 16-bit for 2Kxl users with zip disks.
I doubt it there will be any upgrades to it, the author of MPC Editor is a member of these forums though. Even still, the machine itself will not accept those odd bits, it only wants 16/44. go ahead and try converting 6 to 16, listen to it as 16, it should sound the same, now place it in the mpc... It won't hurt to try.
