so i notice there is some kind of zone function on the 2000. my owners manual is for the XL so it doesn't say what's up with my 2000, and i've messed with the zone a bit and i can't get it to do anything.

anyone want to let me know what its trying to do? Is it something like selecting different parts of a sound without trimming it?

Forat has the old school 2000 manual for free download: http://www.forat.com.

I use zone to chop beats and individual notes from samples (highlight the sound you want on the zone edit page and then save the zone as a new sample ). You can also uses zone to paste new samples. Finally, you can use zone to reverse and mute sections of a loop.

ooh thanks a million for the link to the manual.

i opened my mpc yesterday to get to the RAM using the xl manual and lucky i had my electronics whiz friend around because they are hella differently put together.
